Masterclass: Katonah Autumn Practice

Autumn is the element of Metal, the lungs and large intestines. It begins the cycle of turning inward and preparing for winter, the season of rest. The lungs and the large intestines are two areas of our bodies we must keep clean but often have difficulty due to city pollutants and smoking habits. Our practice affords us the opportunity to begin the cleansing process by breathing in, keeping balance and rhythm to the other organs and breathing out, letting go of what no longer serves us like leaves on a tree.

Additional Details

In this 2 hour workshop we will begin by looking at the relationship between the Metal element and the mind through meditation. Noticing smells happening around us, staying loose and relaxed while bringing attention to our imagination. Leading into the asana, origami for the body, where we begin to fold and unfold our body creating an origami cup to hold the prana we have cultivated. Closing out the practice with pranayama, opening the windows to our lungs by breathing in the essence of life and breathing out grief, sorrow and other leaves that have been hanging onto our branches longer than they should have.
