What is this ritual for?
Historically, the number 108 holds deep sacred, mathematical, and spiritual significance. In this practice, it serves as a tool for transformation. Moving through these repetitive, rhythmic physical poses allows the thinking mind to quiet down. It is a practice designed to help you release stagnant energy from the summer, practice mental resilience, and cultivate inner heat as we transition into the cooler months.
Brand new to this? Welcome!
If doing 108 of anything sounds intimidating, please do not worry. This is a judgment-free, community-driven event, not an endurance test. We break the 108 rounds down into structured, manageable blocks with built-in rests, breathing exercises, and time for self-reflection.
You do not need to do all 108 rounds to participate. You can skip movements, modify poses, or spend half the class resting in Child’s Pose. Your presence and your breath are what matter most.
What to Expect:
- Opening: A brief explanation of the ritual, guidance on how to pace yourself, and setting a personal autumn intention.
- The Flow: Structured sets of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar A) with modifications offered for all fitness levels.
- The Breaks: Guided pauses between sets to hydrate, catch your breath, and reset your mind.
- Closing: A long, deeply restorative Savasana (final relaxation) to absorb the energy of your practice.
Bring an open mind, a water bottle, and a willingness to move at your own unique pace.
